Power Boating and Sailing Enthusiasts on Matagorda Bay

PYC held it's monthly meeting on Feb 4 and celebrated Mardi Gras with a gumbo cook-off.  Barney Gulley carried the honors with the Judge's vote and the People's Choice vote.  Tom Breckenridge found the baby in the King's Cake, thus securing blessings for the year.  Several guests were in attendance and some decided to join the club.
Kris and Nancy Battaglini from Lewes Yacht Club (Lewes, De.) visited the club on February 9.  After taking a tour of La Petite Belle provided by Ted Riccio, the two clubs made an exchange of burgees, showing support for each other's interests in boating.
April 1, members loaded up their land yachts and took
club cruise to Lavaca Bluffs Winery and Lavaca Bluffs Yacht Club

Lavaca Bluffs in located just south of Lolita, Texas so it was a short 30 minutes away.

Lavaca Bluffs has just completed construction of their new wine tasting room.  The club had a great afternoon sampling the different local wines that Lavaca Bluffs produces.  All their wines have name themes based upon this rich history of the area.  Winners were La Salle Chardonnay and Navidad Red Cabernet.

A Business Meeting was held later on the porch of the Outrigger to discuss regatta preparations, start of the youth sailing program, and update on the search for a clubhouse.
